Why Give?
Our Hometown Heroes Banner Program is open to any honorably discharged U.S. Military veteran, living or deceased, as well as any active-duty or Reserve/Guard members of the Army, Navy, Marine, Air Force, Space Force, or Coast Guard who currently resides, has resided, has family members presently or previously residing or has any prior or present affiliation or association with either Centerport Borough or Centre Township. Banners will be printed with the service member’s photo in uniform, name, rank, conflict and/or years of service and major military awards (such as medal of Honor, Navy Cross, Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart), as well as sponsoring individual’s information.
The initial phase of the project will have the banners displayed along Main Street of Centerport and Mohrsville from Shartlesville Road in Centerport to the railroad crossing in Mohrsville. They will remain displayed until it is determined that it is appropriate for an individual banner to be removed (due to weathering, damage, etc.), the banners are expected to last approximately three years. (It is at the option of the sponsor as to replace a removed banner with the current replacement costs at the time of the removal.) Applicaitons can be submitted now with banner installation hopefully to start late summer 2022.
