"My three children at TKA are privileged to approach life's adversities with loving input from teachers who really care about and understand them. My son is on a special track using the quadratic equation in 5th grade. My 3rd-grader's Bible homework is far from the dry indoctrination I once feared; it really explores her own spiritual distinctives as she interacts with God and His Word in a lively way. My 4th-grader got to tackle her first science project as a team member, exploring nature and higher thinking skills while also making harmony of human differences. I praise God that The King's Academy exists, and that it is right here in Berks County!" - Glenn Shrom, Current TKA parent, Spanish Teacher
"Hello! My name is Sun-Young Bae from South Korea. I would like to share my experience at TKA with you if you’re looking forward to know what kind of place it is! I went to the King's Academy in 2006 for a year and I would like to use this one word 'Love' to describe this place. The King's Academy is a place where you can trust your teachers and classmates for sure and I can say this with the actual experience. Teachers gave me the best education ever there could be in the world. From the education we learn the facts of the world and the way God made the earth. All these words were spoken directly from God through the teachers whom he trusts. Learning from the teachers at TKA, not only do you get the information of the world but the strength to share the love with others. Isn't this amazing that you got to learn the most valuable thing in the world at TKA? There aren't many schools that teach the way young ones should live their lives with the words of God these days but I was so lucky to have been the student of TKA. Here are some happenings I had at the school: All the teachers and students at TKA meet every morning to start the day with prayers. I was so inspired to see his throughout the year’s end I never saw anyone who refused to pray out loud in front of everyone in your homeroom-mates. When my teacher first asked me to pray for the day, I refused because I wasn't used to it, but when the time went by, I started to get used to the school and my classmates that I would pray for everyday in Korean or English if asked. About the students at TKA, they are being raised in the best families in U.S. with prayers and cares. So I got to learn with them in great competition, and they know what the most important thing is-sharing! Whenever I had homesickness, so many of my friends at TKA would gather around me and pray for me sharing their hearts, and now, I tell you my homesickness would be gone in 5 minutes at most! I really can tell you that if you are looking for an exchange student program or a study plan abroad, TKA is the best one for a person who wants to learn not only English but also life! And by this honorable chance of speaking about my best memory, I want to thank my teachers and friends! I really miss you all and thanks for the love you gave me without any expected return from me! Love you and God bless you my family! January 24th. 2008 -Seon-Young Bae
-Charles Xu, International Alumnus, Class of 2010 "It’s been three years now since we sensed the Lord changing our direction from home schooling our children to enrolling them into school. Stepping out in faith to this new change in direction was not easy for us, as parents. But, we felt strongly that this was what the Lord wanted us to do and we needed to obey...We are so pleased with The King’s Academy as it has provided our children with opportunity to be challenged and encouraged to reach their potential both academically and spiritually as well as seek to train them to be young, Christian leaders." -Nathanael & Sonya Naugle, Homeschool parents
"The King's Academy helped prepare me for college and ultimately life. Academically, the school provided the necessary discipline and study habits that are needed to succeed in higher education. The small class sizes allowed for greater interaction with fellow classmates and the teachers. Spiritually and socially, I gained a firmer foundation in my beliefs, in conjunction with learning what the prevailing beliefs and mindsets are in the real world. With this combination, I am able to retain my Christian faith and worldview, while at the same time being able to function and interact with many different types of people at college. The knowledge and understanding I learned at The King's Academy has given me the confidence to succeed in college and the ability to face the world." -Emily Rudy, Alumna, Class of '03 The King’s Academy is my home away from home. There will never be a time when I won’t want to return to visit the place where I learned so much and made so many fond memories. I began attending TKA in 5th grade -- the second year of the school’s existence. I’d definitely have to say that the best years of TKA were the high school years. The high school teachers were amazing, and King’s was amazingly blessed to have them, not to sell short the fantastic elementary teachers. The elementary teachers provided a firm foundation for us, but the high school teachers prepared my fellow classmates and me for college academically, spiritually and emotionally as well. The students at TKA grew up very differently than public school students, and it was good we did. We weren’t kept in a bubble...we learned not only about Christianity, but a plethora of different religions as well, and this equipped us to better stand strong in our faith. As a college student it’s very easy (for the most part) to discuss faith/religion with other students. And as a general observation, most students I’ve talked to really dislike their high schools, and said they would only go back to their schools to see their friends and participate in hometown activities (football games, seeing other friends or younger siblings graduate, etc.). I still love TKA, and return there with fond excitement whenever I can, and not only for the social activities. I hope to be able to teach there when I’m finished with college. Teachers at King’s are very different from other teachers; they have a purpose, a purpose which they gladly and fully embrace -- the purpose of sending out the next generation of Americans fully armed with their faith, and hopefully the knowledge of how to better the world in preparation for Christ’s coming. -Katrina Himmelberger, Alumna, Class of '07 "Having a daughter who recently graduated from TKA, I was pleased to find that getting accepted to colleges was surprisingly easy, and as she entered her college classes she was very capable and well-prepared for the tasks set before her. The ability of a student at TKA to participate in a multitude of varying activities assisted my daughter in her college application process. I also have two sons still in high school at TKA who are also able to participate in many different activities. They particularly enjoy the sports program (soccer, basketball, flag football) and the rocket club. They also enjoy their classes, and the faculty is always ready to engage them in discussion and activities that both build them spiritually and that prepare and inspire them for their future. Both sons are anticipating college and exciting careers and all my children have established some great life-long friendships at TKA. " -Linda Rentschler, Alumni Parent, Director of Junior/Senior High
"My husband and I are so pleased with the character development that we’ve come to appreciate in all the students at The King’s Academy. Each of our daughters has blossomed under the guidance of concerned teachers and administrators. The girls speak highly of their relationships with other students and teachers. They feel appreciated and respected here. Although the curriculum is rigorous, the teachers go more than the extra mile to help train up these children in the way that they should go. We are blessed!" -Marie-Louise Cochran, Alumni parent, 4th grade teacher
"When I read your question, 'Why TKA ?', I remembered something that happened last week when I counseled at a christian camp of 51 kids, with my daughter in attendance. Around the campfire, late at night, several 11 and 12 yr old girls were talking about school. They talked about bad language, bullying, being afraid not to participate in teasing because they then would be the target, WICCA, too many kids for teachers to know what is going on, no supervision in the halls while pre- adolescents "make out" and on and on re: their stressful feelings about returning to school. Valerie listened, then simply said- "Wow, you should all come to my school" Amen and Amen" -Connie Glunz, current grade parent
"I thank you, the teachers, and all the staff for providing such an excellent experience for our children. I truly feel TKA has been a gift from God. I feel that TKA has helped me to reinforce to her that God is our Father, and will be with us no matter what. Our school has wonderful men, women, and other children that set great examples. My daughter is very happy and is growing up with good morals and values, and with a great education! I feel so blessed and cannot ask for more." Thanking God for our wonderful school, -Julie Letcher, current parent "Both of my children received top notch educations. My daughter has been very successful at Pitt majoring in International Relations/ Political Science, English Writing and French with certificates in Women's Studies and Urban Studies. She is currently in Paris at the University of Sorbonne finishing her requirement of the study abroad program. My son is pursuing his passion--film, because of the great drama program and willing teachers to allow him the freedom to create." "As Christian parents, we are called to raise our children up, as we would have them go. Today’s secular “freedoms” make that task harder every day. We are blessed to have the opportunity to partner ourselves with The King’s Academy in this endeavor. TKA provides high academic standards, and excellent perspective of discipline, and the nurturing of mutual respect between teachers and students, all within the framework of God’s word. Given the educational options of today’s public school systems, The King’s Academy is the only choice for our children." Dave and Jill Krewson, Current TKA Parents
"My son is in Boy Scouts. They are split into patrols and we were told by the senior patrol leader that he is the only older boy there showing any leadership. Sandie DelVecchio, Current and Alumni TKA Parent
"Wow! I am really impressed at how well these children behave and take charge of themselves. They know their tasks, they are polite and helpful. This was truly a pleasure being here today. Thank you for the opportunity to see how elementary school should work."
