Parents must verify that they are regularly involved in church 3. Complete the application for enrollment, sign all agreements and pay all required fees 4. Either submit a recent (no more than one year) standardized test score, or undergo admissions testing Once you have satisfactorily completed all the above steps, you have completed all requirements for enrollment.
Admissions Policy found below 5.1 Enrollment PoliciesThis section addresses the policies that apply to a new applicant who wishes to enroll as a student at TKA. 5.1.1 Application1. Each new applicant shall make application in writing to the Admissions Committee. 2. An application for enrollment is properly made when the application forms provided by TKA are completed and returned to the school with the non-refundable registration fee (the fee is per child to be enrolled). This fee is in addition to tuition and other fees. No child will be assigned a position on enrollment lists until the appropriate forms and fee have been received. 3. For students entering grades 1 through 8 who have previously attended a public or private school, a copy of the most recent report card must be submitted with the admissions materials. For all students entering grades 9 through 12 a copy of a current transcript is required. For students who have previously been home-schooled (regardless of grade being entered) a copy of the most recent evaluation letter is required to be submitted. 5.1.2 Testing1. All prospective students must undergo admissions testing to ensure that the student has the ability to succeed in grade level work at TKA. 2. If a nationally standardized test (Stanford, Iowa, Gates) taken within a year is available for grades 1-12, it can be evaluated in place of our entrance test, with the addition of the writing sample. 5.1.3 Interviews1. An interview by designated members of the TKA Admissions Committee with the applicant's family shall be carried out before admission to TKA is granted. Interviews will only occur after all admission materials have been submitted. 2. For most interviews our written interview procedures are followed. However, there are times when a special interview is required due to the circumstances of the proposed student and this may necessitate additional people being part of the interview or the addition of other questions. 3. Current TKA families (i.e., those who have been through the admissions process with another child or more) who desire to have another child admitted to TKA will be required to follow normal admissions procedures. However, for students in Kindergarten and in grades 1 to 6, the interview may be waived. All Kindergarten students will need a readiness evaluation, and all students in grades 7 through 12 may require an interview. 5.1.4 Acceptance/Admission1. The applicant's previous educational achievement, patterns of behavior, and learning potential shall be considered as factors bearing upon whether the applicant will be granted enrollment. In order to be considered for admission, students must demonstrate scores ≥ 65th percentile in both Reading and Math and demonstrate grade level facility with writing. Students outside these requirements may be admitted due to the discretion of the Admissions Committee or Administrator. 2. TKA is not designed to provide the instructional, psychological, and evaluative services that may be required for a child with significant learning disabilities and/or psychological disorders. All students are considered on an individual basis as to their capability of succeeding in this rigorous academic environment. 3. TKA may not accept students whose work has been below acceptable standards or students who may have had disciplinary problems at other schools. 4. All applicants will be notified within a reasonable time frame as to whether or not they are accepted at TKA. 5. Students may be admitted on probation for potential behavioral or academic difficulties. Refer to the Student Handbook for policy on probation. 6. A student may be admitted at the discretion of the Administrator without a pastor recommendation for a period of one academic school year. In order to re-enroll for the next year, the student will be required to submit a pastor recommendation. 7. One parent/guardian of each student must be a member in good standing of The King's Academy Association and shall sign and affirm the Parental Agreement and the Preamble of the Constitution prior to admission. 8. Each student grade 7 and above shall sign and affirm the Student Covenant prior to admission. 5.1.4 Non-Discrimination PolicyThe King's Academy, Inc. admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, or national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, athletic and other school administered programs. |
